While the quality of our relationship to ourselves is of the utmost importance, the quality of our relationships to others is vitally important for mental health. Our connection with others contributes to our sense of self and of our place in the world, and gives our lives depth and meaning. In therapy, we learn to relate more authentically and directly through our exchanges. When we can successfully identify what is alive in us, and effectively share it with others, life becomes even richer.
Developing tools for more authentic and compassionate communication is absolutely necessary for our own personal fulfillment. This is the gift then, that clients are able to bring back to their family, friends and business associates that bears real fruit.
Creatives
Creatives, writers, performers and entrepreneurs often struggle with self-doubts around creativity and their ability to realize their life goals. EMDR and coaching can help to reconnect you to your inherent creativity and spontaneity and give you the boost to go “confidently in the direction of your dreams”.
Athletes
If you’re like most athletes, you are looking for ways to improve physical and mental performance. Self-limiting beliefs can often keep us from realizing our greatest athletic potential. Talk therapy is not always the best approach to access these viscerally held beliefs. EMDR and guided visualizations can serve to activate the unconscious and help to re-author what we believe to be possible creating a greater sense of confidence, personal agency and joy.
Women
I work with women of all ages to address the issues that are most important to them, regardless of age or station. Therapy is a safe place to process the ongoing changes in one’s life. I collaborate with clients to find strategies and tools to best assist them creating richer lives with an enhanced sense of purpose and meaning. Many of life’s greatest challenges can be re-authored in an authentic way which contributes to a greater sense of well being and of personal power
Young People
One of the greatest gifts a young person can receive, is a sense of delight and being unconditionally witnessed by a caring adult. Therapy is a safe space in which a young person is able to grow their interpersonal skills and learn to track, identify and articulate feeling states with empathy, compassion and caring. Therapy is a place where a young person's innate wisdom can emerge. I utilize inquiry, compassionate communication, art and play therapy as well as guided visualization and Attachment Focused EMDR to assist kids and adolescents in discovering strategies for feeling more securely attached and self-regulated, creating natural defense responses (healthy boundaries) as they navigate becoming the caring, emotionally attuned and articulate adults they were destined to become.
