Therapy is a place where we collaborate to find more adaptive strategies in life. It is a safe space in which to challenge outworn behaviors and beliefs, examine cynicism or negative biases, explore unconscious beliefs that stand in the way of our own sense of well being and move more fully toward a greater sense of wellness and authenticity. Additionally, therapy is a safe place to address our own notions of self-care, self-esteem, and soul-tending. Learning how to regulate affect, is a true gift of the body and mind. It can mean the difference between “going off-line” when we are sidewinded by anxiety, depression, anger or grief, and learning how to manage those states and stay present and grounded in any situation. Care of one’s body, mind and spirit, in equal measure, is essential for a sense of well-being and fulfillment.
